Floral Inspiration

My Mum is a garden designer and so over the years she has dragged me to so many gardens it hurts my head to think about it. I used to hate it but now I am almost fully converted and over the last few years they have provided so much inspiration for me in my work. East Ruston Gardens (photos below) in Norfolk is possibly the most beautiful one in England, I felt like I was in the secret garden. There are 27 different sections to the garden, so if you do not want to get horribly lost then do not leave your map in the car like me!

Khaki Camouflage

At the moment I am lugging my portfolio round to a bunch of art foundation courses - which most art students will tell you can be quite a workout, especially when the strap breaks! Hopefully all the work (and the lugging) will soon pay off and I will be getting the results back in the next few weeks.
Above is another illustration of the beautiful Barbara Palvin, she's just too drawable!

Tanya Ling

If you buy UK fashion magazines then you've probably already seen these beautiful illustrations by Tanya Ling for Selfridges. It's not often that big brands like Selfridges use illustrations in their ad campaigns, especially ones as painterly as these.
So this is great news !
Interesting Fact: Tanya Ling is mother to superblogger Bip Ling !

Barbara

This is an illustration I did last year of model Barbara Palvin. The headdress was inspired by the lovely paper flower hats/ headdresses (I don't quite know how to describe them!) at the Chanel Spring/ Summer 2009 show, created by king hat maker, Philip Treacy. They were so intricate and beautiful and inspired me to give barbara this little 'crown' which I injected with some colour!

Inspired

I have been so so busy lately finishing up pieces for my portfolio, I feel like I haven't sat down in a week. Anyway since I've now got a chunk of my work done, I thought I'd take a breather and share some beautiful drawings by a few of my favourite illustrators - definitely worth checking out their work.

Fashion Sketches

Recently I have been so inspired by the work of a whole bunch of fashion illustrators, including the incredible Vic Riches. So I have almost obsessively been doing fashion illustrations (above) despite the fact I have a psychology exam tomorrow... eurghh
